Justin Small and James Brown met while working in private banking together. Justin had spent his professional life giving financial advice, while James had come to it from a background in management consultancy and investment banking.
Together they realised that the market was polarised. They found that clients often felt that they received poor quality advice from Independent Financial Advisers and a less than satisfactory service from private banks. Surely, they said, clients want both: expert advice they can trust and great service they can rely on.
The pair’s determination to maintain high levels of service means the business has and will continue to grow carefully. There is no pressure from outside shareholders to deliver spectacular returns; the business is entirely owned by James and Justin.
Edison’s measure of success is in helping its clients achieve their needs and dreams, be that paying the school fees or buying the farmhouse in Tuscany.
